What ages do you cut hair from?

Candy Hair provides quality hair cuts and hair styling from the first lock of hair, to teens and even adults!

Do you require appointments?

Appointments are strongly recommended. Walk-ins will be accommodated subject to availability.

Can I request a specific hair stylist?

Yes, in fact we recommend it, in order to build a relationship between the stylist and your child. It makes the child feel comfortable and at ease.

What happens if I am running late for my appointment?

We understand sometimes it's hard to get out of the house on time with children! If you are running late, call the salon and we will be able to inform you if we can see you a bit later. As our appointments are back-to-back, it is possible you may have to re-schedule if you are more than 5 minutes late.

Will you shampoo my childs hair?

We offer a shampoo for an extra $5 but you must tell the staff when you are booking the appointment so we can allow for enough time.

My child has very knotted hair. Will you comb through the knots?

Of course! The normal day-to-day knots will be combed out easily before we commence the cut. However, if your child has very mattered hair that has not been combed through for quite some time, it is important that you inform our staff at the time of booking so we allow ample time to complete the service. An extra charge may be payable. You will be quoted the price once we have examined the condition of your child's hair.

What happens if my child is uncooperative?

We understand that children get tired, have 'off-days' or just dread getting haircuts. We are experienced in dealing with these situations. If the dvd or novelty car is not enough to distract them, we may ask you to blow bubbles or they may be more comfortable sitting on your lap. It is entirely up to you if you wish to continue with the service or not. If the child is moving around a lot we cannot guarantee a precision cut, but our staff are renowned for getting the best cut out of a bad situation! We recommend ensuring the child has just been to the toilet and is well rested before coming into the salon.

Why do I have to place my child in the novelty chair?

As a work-safe practice, we ask our stylists to refrain from picking children up and placing them in the chairs. The children are also much more comfortable being lifted by their parent or guardian.

What are your minimum and maximum numbers for parties?

The minimum number of guests is 8 and the maximum is 12 for our weekend parties. If you think 12 special guests are not enough, please call us as we may be able to make some special arrangements.

Can you cater for large parties up to 25 guests?

Yes we can! For our Glam cat-walk party we can host up to 25 guests on Thursday and Friday evenings from 4.30pm. The party will run for an additional 30mins, therefore being a 2hr party (no additional charge for this time, just pay per head).

What times do your parties run on weekends?

Saturday 9:30am to 11:00am 11:30am to 1:00pm 1:30pm to 3:00pm 3:30pm to 5:00pm Sunday 10:30am to 12:00pm 12:30pm to 2:00pm 3:00pm to 4:30pm

Are weekday and evening parties available?

Yes they are! We offer various times throughout the week and try our best to cater to the time slot you desire.

What time should I arrive on the day of the party?

There is no need to arrive earlier than 5 minutes prior to the party start time. If you are early, there is ample space outside the salon to gather and welcome your friends. Your party host will usher you in right on time.

How do I book in a party?

Simply contact us to confirm availability, complete a simple booking form and pay a deposit equivalent to that of two children attending your party (depending on the party you choose, this amount will be $40 or $50). Your deposit will be deducted from your final balance on the day of your party.

Can I leave my child in the salon whilst I do some shopping?

No, we require you to stay with your child at all times in case they need you. We also like to have you there to consult with about the haircut.

What age do you do the ear piercing from?

We pierce ears on children 4+ years. If the child is too young, they may squirm around and we cannot guarantee accuracy in this case. We advise parents to wait until the children are BEGGING to get their ears pierced as these children are ready and do not cry or feel the pain as much. It's up to you, you know your child best!

Do you pierce both ears at the same time?

Yes! It's the only way to do it. It's all over before they know it.

Do you sell Gift Certificates?

Yes. In fact, our gift certificates are the perfect gift for the child who has everything. You can treat them to a hair service or a beauty service such as manicures, pedicures and some great pampering packages. Simply click on the Gift Certificate tab above to purchase online.

Do you stock child-friendly hair products in your salon?

Most definitely! Candy hair has a great range of products for young and old. We proudly sell the organic range of eco kid, a great range of RPR and also a beautiful range of Loreal. We sell everything from de-tanglers, shampoos, wax's, lice repellents and more. Pop in to see our great range.

Does Candy Hair support any charity organisation?

Yes, we proudly support The Children's Cancer Institute. We accept donations in-store, host charity workshops and other fundraising activities to support this cause. We also proudly support the Cancer Council Victoria in association with local wig makers by offering a free hair cut for anyone cutting longer than 30cm cut off and is willing to donate their hair. The hair donations go towards making wigs for children suffering the terrible side effects of treatment.
